history made last night at exchange

stage-eXchange

I’m a little in the shock zone right now.

Last night. Porn Sunday. Tons of people made a commitment to avoid porn for 30 days AND invest in Life Journaling (daily devotions). I get lit up when I see this stuff!!

As icing on the cake, we had 702 people in the exchange gathering last night. Add in the youth and we were at 897 people in the building. A new record. Never has exchange been this large.

“Oh, I see,” says Mr. Sarcastic, “you are all about the numbers.”

You know what? Yes. Yes I am. There, I said it. I am about numbers because numbers represent people. The kingdom is about people. It is about more people living in genuine community. It is about more people coming to know Christ. It is about more people finding their place in his cause.

Let me encourage you to keep investing in relationships. Keep inviting people into your small groups, your place of service, and into the exchange gathering. Our prayer is to see 1000 people living in genuine community. 1000 people coming closer to Christ. 1000 people finding their place in his cause.

To those who made a commitment to Life Journal last night - AWESOME!!!! Keep up the great work and may God form you as you meet him very day in his Word!

Blessings!!!

Lance heading to Taiwan

27 01 2008

You’ve seen him lead worship in eXchange several times and now Lance Hampton is about to start something big. Here’s some details on Lance’s journey to Taiwan, straight from his blog:

I’ve recently made the decision to pursue missions and begin the next chapter of my life.  I knew I wanted to do something where I could work closely with people.  But I also wanted to be able to do something where I could share my love for music as well.

The opportunity to go to Taiwan and serve in a newly planted church in Taichung presented both of these passions in my life as needs that they currently have.

Lance will be talking briefly in eXchange tonight so be sure to be there and show him your support. His blog will also have all the info you’ll need so be sure to bookmark it and go sign up for his newsletter.

Good luck Lance!

The entire process will span over the next months and possibly years so be sure to bookmark the Wiggins’ blog and add them and Juan Pablo to your prayer list.

Join His cause!

8 05 2007

14th and Chestnut Community Center could really use some volunteers to help out over the next several weeks.  They need help in the kitchen on weekdays from 3:30-6:00 through June 1st.

Starting June 11 they will need people for lunches starting around 10:30 or 11:00 am until 1:30pm.  Call the center at 812.232.3126.  Also, they could use people to work with the kids from 3-6:00 pm daily until June 1st.  So if you want to spend a few hours with a young friend, tutoring, playing games, or having a fun conversation, this is the place for you!

Check out the official Guatemala blog!

21 03 2007

We’ve got a crew of people headed to Guatemala next week, and the official Guat blog has launched! You can check it out by clicking here, and we’ll have a nice little graphic over to the right in a day or two that you can click, too.

Get over there, bookmark it, and check it out often so we can keep in contact with our peeps!

Got an old cell phone?

12 03 2007

Your old nasty cell phones are actually worth something! For every old cell phone that we give to the 14th and Chestnut Community Center, they receive money that helps change the life of a student. So, if you’ve got an old cell phone around, stop using it as a museum piece. Bring it into Exchange, give it to “the intern” Nate Youngblood and he will take care of the rest. Its one more way that Exchange is following Christ in his Cause.
